STATEMENT OF SOLIDARITY FROM THE IRISH COMMUNIST PARTY
To the Central Committee and All Comrades of the Communist Party Marxist Kenya (CPMK)
Comrades,
The Irish Communist Party sends revolutionary greetings and unwavering solidarity to you in this hour of intense struggle. Communists from across the island of Ireland have followed with anger and admiration the courageous resistance of your Party against the brutal repression of the Kenya Kwanza regime.
We condemn in the strongest possible terms the violent kidnapping and torture of your General Secretary, Comrade Booker Ngesa Omole, by state forces in Isiolo on 24th February 2026. The breaking of his tooth, the cutting of his finger with a pen knife, and his savage assault before being dumped at Mlolongo Police Station—a site notorious for extra-judicial killing—reveal the true face of the capitalist state. This is not law enforcement. This is state terrorism against the organised working class.
We further condemn the attempted assassination of Comrade Omole in January 2025, the ongoing torture and denial of medical care to Comrade Shillingi Shevo in Mombasa Remand Prison, the arrests of Comrades Baraza Wechuli, Julius Owino, and Obwonyo, and the detention of youth and health workers Comrades Kiritu Chege, Celvince Okello Ndaya, and Joy Kamene Zachariah. Each of these attacks is an attack on the entire working class.
The people of Ireland, especially in the North where Britain still maintains its colonial presence, know well the heavy hand of state repression. The people of Ireland understand the reality of political repression against our communities, movements and organisations targeted by an occupying power.
Comrades, your Party’s leadership of the warehouse workers in Mombasa—their strikes, their shutdown of port operations, their demand for fair wages and dignity—is an inspiration to class-conscious workers everywhere. When you declare that “the warehouses will not move, the port will not flow, and business will not continue as usual,” you speak the universal language of proletarian resistance.
The Irish Communist Party stands in full and fraternal solidarity with the Communist Party Marxist Kenya. Your struggle for land, food, and freedom is our struggle. Your fight against neo-colonial exploitation and imperialist domination is our fight.
Comrades, your declaration that 2025 is the year “to give a permanent dent to capitalism” resonates deeply with those of us who have spent generations fighting British imperialism and its capitalist allies. The spirit of Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi and the spirit of James Connolly are one and the same spirit—the spirit of workers and oppressed people who refuse to bow.
To Comrade Booker Omole, wherever you are held: your comrades in Ireland – in Belfast, Dublin, Cork and Galway stand with you. To Comrade Shillingi Shevo, denied medical care while rotting in a remand prison: your fight for workers’ rights will not be forgotten. To the warehouse workers of Mombasa, facing police bullets with heads unbowed: you are the vanguard of the Kenyan revolution.
The ruling class may kidnap leaders, but they cannot kidnap the consciousness of the working class. They may torture bodies, but they cannot break the revolutionary will.
We echo the clarion call of the Kenyan masses for land, food, and freedom:
Wafanyi kazi, nyakua mashamba – Nyakua! Wafanyi kazi, komboa chakula – Komboa! Wafanyi kazi, pigania uhuru – Pigania!
In solidarity and revolutionary unity,
National Executive Committee Irish Communist Party Belfast | Dublin | Cork

The Original Statement from the CPMK:
PUBLIC STATEMENT AND CALL FOR SOLIDARITY
24 February 2026
The Central Committee of the Communist Party Marxist Kenya addresses the people of Kenya and all progressive forces with urgency, anger, and unwavering clarity.
Last evening, Comrade Booker Ngesa Omole, our Secretary General and a steadfast son of the working class, was violently abducted in Isiolo by officers of the Kenya Police Service.
Let there be no distortion of facts.
This was not an arrest.
This was not lawful detention.
This was a kidnapping.
He was beaten severely. Tortured. Brutalised to near death. His tooth was broken. His finger was cut with a pen knife. He was treated not as a citizen with rights but as an enemy to be crushed.
After this savage assault, he was dumped at Mlolongo Police Station, a station widely feared by the masses and long associated with extra judicial killings and systematic terror against the poor and politically conscious. His phone signal has been traced there.
This is state violence in its naked form.
This is repression against the organised working class.
This is an attempt to intimidate the revolutionary movement.
A
Immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Omole.
Full public accountability for every officer responsible.
We call upon workers, peasants, youth, women, trade unions, student movements, human rights organisations, and all anti imperialist and democratic forces to rise in solidarity. Organise. Speak out. Mobilise. Defend our comrades. Defend democratic rights. Defend the revolution.
No prison can contain the will of the people.
No baton can beat down the truth.
No regime can stop the march of history.
The struggle continues. The people shall win.
Signed,
Central Committee
Communist Party Marxist Kenya
Solidarity forever. Forward to people’s power.
